What do I do next? If you have made a decision to have a personal relationship with Jesus Christ, then, you need to do the following things next.
-Read Your Bible: Read the Book of Philippians found in the New Testament. Then, read, First John, a small book somewhat near the end of the New Testament. Now, try a longer book such as the Gospel of John.
Just start talking to God! Tell him that you love him. God wants to hear from you. If you have done some wrong things since you became a new believer, tell God what you did. He already knows what you did, but, what you are doing is confessing or admitting that you did these things. Ask God to forgive you. He is ready and willing to forgive you. Check out First John 1:9 to see what it says about this. Furthermore, tell God how you are doing and ask for his help. Pray for others and their needs. It’s good to think about others and ask God to help them. Why not ask God to help one of your friends to become a new believer just like you.
-Meet With Other Believers: Why? You need the encouragement and you need to encourage others. Contact us regarding a suggestion as to where to attend a church that provides help for new believers like you. You also need to let other people know that you have started a relationship with God. They will be very happy for you and will become great friends. You need this! Do it soon!
-Tell Others About Your Decision: Why? Well, aren’t you happy about your decision? Are you thankful that a basketball coach or English teacher or someone else came to tell you about Christ and his love for you? Then, tell about your decision to a few friends. Tell them what happened and why you made
this decision. Ask them to make the same decision. Let them know that God wants to have a personal relationship with each of us. You may not know exactly what to say, but, it you will share your personal story it will be of great help to others. Why not write to Eric to let him know what happened when you shared your new faith, your decision, with others?
-Check back here for more ideas and information as we will be writing more. But, for now, these are some of the first steps to take as a new believer. One more thing--read your Bible every day and pray every day. You need this just like you need food! You eat every day, right? Right! :)
