Willing hearts.
The most important volunteer that we need at Camp Monty is someone with a willing heart. The kids and families of Niksic do not care if you are the best at a sport or if you have ever even played a sport. They get excited to see us coming to town because they know that we love them. They tell us that the entire city lights up when we arrive. We know that the Light that comes with us is the Light of Jesus Christ. Bring that willing heart to share the love of Jesus Christ with you. Those are the volunteers with the most important roles |
English Teachers.
If you know English, you can help us teach an English class. These classes are held outside on the front lawn of the University, and they are very flexible. We have two teachers who have been with us for years and they create the lesson plans for the entire week. They come very prepared and organized. If you are willing, they will give you the lesson plans for your group each day, and you will teach a class! Each teacher is paired with a translator. Usually the translator is a former student of the English classes, and they are excited to be a part of teaching younger students and their peers. It is a wonderful time to get to know the kids in a smaller setting than the sports sessions. Many of them speak a little bit of English, and many of them are very fluent. Either way they get excited about learning English! |
Runners.
These are the volunteers who are willing to travel between sports sessions and make sure that each area of the Camp has what they need. While we take instant access to everyone through text messages and cellphone calls for granted in America, it is not easy in Montenegro. There is wifi throughout the city of Niksic, but it is spotty and unreliable. Runners and messengers are much more reliable and needed throughout the week. |
Evangelists.
While sports and teaching English are a lot of fun, they are the activities that we provide that allows us to hold Camp Monty in the city of Niksic, Montenegro. This area of the world is not widely open to Christians or the Bible. However, the government of Montenegro does not mind if we share the gospel of Jesus Christ...as long as we continue to teach the kids about sports and English. That means that our days are filled with sports sessions and English classes, but the evenings are where all of us go out into the town and talk to as many people as we can about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It is an incredible time of meeting locals and seeing lives changed for Eternity! |
